George Alexander Jernigan, 94, of Magee, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Collins State Veterans Home in Collins, Mississippi. He was born Wednesday, February 23, 1927 in Summerland, Mississippi.

 Visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee.

 Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. The will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS. Bro. Brian Means will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

 Mr. Jernigan retired from the Navy and he was very active in the masonic lodge in Florida. He also was a longtime truck driver. He retired from the Police Association in Virginia and he worked many years for the Simpson County Sheriff Department.

 He was preceded in death by his wife, Belma Stern Jernigan; father, Brice Jernigan; one brother and four sisters.

 Survivors include his niece, Jean Amsden of Texas; sister-in-law, Judy Jernigan (Jimmy) of Taylorsville, MS; and host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
