Fullness of Time
Have you ever prayed for something and waited and waited and waited for an answer? I don’t know of anyone who has not questioned if God has heard their prayer or if He would answer them.
The children of Israel had been promised a Messiah by prophets and teachers and the scriptures. They had waited for generations, yet the faithful ones still looked and waited and anticipated the Messiah. They did not give up the hope of a savior.
They were waiting on the Messiah to come and save them from the cruel oppression they were suffering. Yet, when the Messiah came, he was not what they had envisioned. He was a baby, born in a stable, raised as a carpenter’s son. For years, he grew, studied, and trained to be a lowly carpenter at the side of his earthly father. There were no white horses, no purple robes, and no soldiers waiting to serve. Because the Messiah did not fit their idea of a savior, they missed Him!
I hope all of us will begin 2016 with a mind and heart open to God’s leading. God may answer our prayers in ways we cannot understand or in ways we do not expect! Don’t wait at a closed door and miss the open window!!
4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to male heir. 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir. Galatians 4:4-7 (NKJV)
