So often, friendships almost become love stories…Love comes in many forms…friends come in many forms.
As a small “daycare” age child, Sarah Berry had a fun, energetic, motivated young guy who worked with her class. Jacob Russell knew the Berry family well. They were in church together…in fact, according to Brother Jacob, “Mrs. Belinda was my other mother.” “I grew up in their home and knew Sarah as a child.”
As things happen, Jacob grows up and moves away …begins his life…goes into the ministry …but his attachment to the Berry family never ended.
Several years ago Jacob came to Magee to work on a mission project, conducting backyard Bible studies, with the youth of First Baptist Church. Belinda Berry was instrumental in bringing Brother Jacob’s team to Magee.
Sarah was thrilled to see and have time with a person who meant so much to her.
Please, don’t get the idea this is going in one certain direction…because it is not!
Jacob is back. He has come to Magee to pick up eyeglasses that he is taking on a mission trip to Haiti. First Baptist collected 198 pairs of glasses as of Friday, the 20th.
Sarah Berry is a student at Simpson Academy and is working part-time with MageeNews.com. Two weeks ago, Sarah started talking about Brother Jacob’s pending arrival.
On Friday, Sarah and Belinda brought Jacob by to meet me….Well, you know I can’t resist videoing anyone who comes through my doors!
Now, how does this become a love story??? It was always a love story…a young man showed kindness to a toddler…a child who never forgot what she was taught…took the values and principals learned and built a life long friendship that knows no end.
Don’t ever underestimate the power of your friendship with a younger person…you may be making a life time friend…teaching values and morals they will use for a lifetime…..and that is truly a love story!
