Fraternity Receives Outstanding Chapter Award at National Convention
The Mississippi Gamma Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon at The University of Southern Mississippi was awarded the Buchanan Cup at its national convention, the Grand Chapter Conclave, in Nashville, Tenn.
The Buchanan Cup, named after the fraternity’s former Grand President Edwin Buchanan, represents superior and sustained achievement for Sigma Phi Epsilon chapters. The award measures individual chapters to its accomplishments in volunteer support, recruitment, member development, academics and faculty engagement during a two-year period.
The Mississippi Gamma Chapter was one of 32 chapters to receive this award, naming them one of the strongest chapters, nationally, within Sigma Phi Epsilon for 2013 and 2014. This is the first time the Mississippi Gamma Chapter has received this award since their colonization at Southern Miss in 1953.
The Grand Chapter Conclave, held every two years, provides educational programming and professional development to undergraduate and alumni participants.
The Mississippi Gamma Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded in 1963 at Southern Miss. For more information on the Mississippi Gamma Chapter, visit http://www.usmsigep.com/home.
