TODAY at noon, April 13, 2016, Franklin Graham spoke and many people from Mississippi prayed on the steps of our capitol as Dr. Graham continued his Decision America Tour 2016 begun in January.  Visiting every state capitol before the November 2016 election is the plan and goal.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

God has indeed blessed America.  What a blessing to live in America. Are words important? The words, “In God we trust,” still on our coins and “One nation under GOD,” we repeat as we pledge allegiance to the flag of our United States of America. Words are important and yes, I do believe the words cited. Do you?

                                                Do We Trust God?

Certainly every thinking person realizes the decline of morals and the climate of selfishness in our nation.  I re-read a poignant quote this week by Ruth Bell Graham, the mother of five children, including the fourth child, Franklin, who is in Mississippi today.

The context of the quote is of interest. Billy Graham was still writing letters in 2012 for his Evangelistic Association (BGEA), now headed by Franklin.  Billy’s beloved wife Ruth had died in 2007 when he wrote:

“July 23.2012. Some years ago, my wife, Ruth, was reading the draft of a book I was writing. When she finished a section describing the terrible downward spiral of our nation’s moral standards and the idolatry of worshiping false gods such as technology and sex, she startled me by exclaiming:

‘If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to

 apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.’”

Billy Graham continued: “Ruth was probably thinking of a passage in Ezekiel where God tells why He brought those cities to ruin. They were arrogant, overfed, unconcerned, haughty, did detestable things and did not help the poor and needy.” {Ezekiel 16:49-50).

Is our country still “America the Beautiful”?  There are so many beautiful, caring, loving people in America and in our wonderful Mississippi. Let’s unite our hearts in loving and caring for one another.  Sing with me for “God to shed His grace on us and crown our good with brotherhood and sisterhood and love from sea to shining sea, ” starting in our beloved state of MISSISSIPPI!
