Natchez, Miss – Four inmates were sentenced by U.S. District Judge David Bramlette III on Thursday, June 23, 2016 for their participation in a prison riot which took place at the Adams County Correctional facility prison on May 20, 2012, announced U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis and FBI Special Agent in Charge Donald Alway. Ruben Coronado-Licon, 24, originally of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison. Jorge Felix-Ibarra, 31, originally of Sinola, Mexico, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison. Joel Oswaldo Ramirez-Nunez, 36, originally of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, was sentenced to 92 months in federal prison. Hector Miguel Diaz-Osuna, 35, originally of Sinola, Mexico, was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison. The defendants were ordered to pay restitution jointly and severally in the amount of $1,382,313, and they are subject to deportation following their release from prison. The cause of the riot was what the inmates perceived to be inadequate food, medical conditions and disrespectful staff members. During the riot, prison fences were destroyed, windows were broken, prison property was stolen, hostages were taken, correctional officers were assaulted, and one corrections officer was killed. U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis commended the agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation who worked tirelessly on this case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Lemon who prosecuted the case for the Government.
