A former Prentiss city clerk has been arrested following an indictment on embezzlement charges in Jefferson Davis County, according to court records.

The Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Dana Melissa “Missy” Jones was taken into custody on Monday after the indictment was signed on March 2.

Records from the Office of 15th Circuit Court District Attorney Hal Kittrell state that Jones “willfully, unlawfully and feloniously” misappropriated funds from the Prentiss Run for the Roses 5K nonprofit organization while serving as the group’s treasurer. The alleged activity occurred between July 31, 2023, and June 13, 2025.

Authorities report that more than $10,000 was taken from the nonprofit organization.
