JACKSON, Miss. – Today, State Auditor Shad White announced that Patrick Harris, a former Centreville Police Officer, has pleaded guilty to one count of Embezzlement.

Harris pawned his assigned pistol from the Police Department to a pawn shop. A few months later, Harris also took two pistols from the evidence/property room and pawned them off as well.

“I’m thankful to the agents in my office for working on this case as long as the prosecutor who helped bring it to a close,” said State Auditor Shad White. “We will continue to work hand-in-hand with prosecutors to hold those who steal taxpayer money accountable.”

Harris was prosecuted in Wilkinson County Circuit Court where he was sentenced to ten years’ probation. Harris was also ordered to pay $731.12 in restitution, $432.50 in court costs, and $750 in fines.

Suspected fraud can be reported to the Auditor’s office at any time by clicking the red button at www.osa.ms.gov or calling 1-(800)-321-1275 during normal business hours.
