The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in 1 John 5:4-5: “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” The apostle speaks to Christian converts, almost as a cheerleader, assuring new converts that they are special and need only keep the faith and rely on Jesus Christ to see them through. We, too, are offered that same assurance. We are more than conquerors if we stay the course and keep our eyes focused on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Do not despair. Do not become discouraged in your walk. The prize awaits the faithful. Amen!
