Fisher Receives Prestigious
Law Enforcement Commendation

The Mississippi Society Sons of the American Revolution presented former Public Safety and Corrections Commissioner Marshall Fisher with the National Society’s prestigious Law Enforcement Commendation Medal for 2021-2022 during a ceremony held Tuesday, March 8, at the offices of Bryant Songy Snell Global Partners in Ridgeland. Regarding the selection of Fisher, Mississippi Society SAR President Ben Jones stated, “In bestowing this award on Fisher, we recognize a distinguished career that reflects great credit upon himself and the highest traditions of public service.” Also attending the ceremony was Former Governor Phil Bryant, himself a former career law enforcement officer. According to Bryant, “Marshall has always exceeded our expectations and excelled in a masterful fashion.”
The Law Enforcement Commendation Medal is presented to those who have served with distinction and devotion in the field of law enforcement and is intended to recognize exceptional service or accomplishment exemplifying the best civic traditions of our nation. Authorized in 1933, the medal was adopted and first presented to J. Edgar Hoover in 1968. The recipients are usually recommended by their superiors or peers for their accomplishments. The medal may be presented to an individual only once and recipients are recorded in the Proceedings of the National Society SAR Annual Congress.
