By James Davis

The Scriptural passage for today is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:1: “Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.” The apostle is, again, addressing one of the early churches to provide support and encouragement to the congregation in order to maintain peace and unity. Jesus felt it important during His ministry and after leaving His work in the hands of the apostles for there to be a spirit of love and unity among the Christian converts. They were to serve as examples to a lost world just as we are to be today. The plan has not changed. So, let us do our part each day as we go about exchanging and mingling with others. Let us share the love, joy, and kindness of Jesus with all with whom we come in contact. I urge all of us to do this each day, because I feel the need to be so very important as we help to expand the kingdom of God.

Happy Sunday! Serve the Lord with gladness!
