Federal Corrections Officer Indicted and Arrested for Accepting Bribes

Jackson, Miss. – Anthony Robinson, 39, of Yazoo City, was arrested by FBI Agents this morning based on a one-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury charging him with accepting bribes, announced United States Attorney Mike Hurst, Christopher Freeze, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation in Mississippi, and Robert A. Bourbon, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (DOJ-OIG), Miami Field Office.

According to the indictment, Robinson accepted bribes from inmates at the Yazoo City Federal Correctional Complex in exchange for bringing contraband into the prison for inmates.

Robinson will have his initial court appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Linda R. Anderson in Jackson tomorrow, October 11th at 1:30 p.m.

If convicted, Robinson faces up to 15 years in federal prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

The case was investigated by the FBI Jackson Division and the DOJ-OIG. The Federal Bureau of Prisons also assisted with the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney and Deputy Criminal Chief Patrick Lemon.

These charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
