UPDATE:
A Nissan Versa was leaving Simpson County Lake crossing over the northbound lane of 49. The Nissan was struck by a Ford Explorer which was traveling south on 49.
The couple killed in the wreck have been identified as Al Moreton, 81 an Oxford Attorney, and his wife, Rebecca Moreton, from Oxford.
Moreton was a former prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Aberdeen and Oxford
The 3 people in the Explorer were taken to Baptist Hospital in Jackson with injuries
A fatal wreck involving two cars near Simpson Lake (Legion Lake) happened mid afternoon Monday. A car pulled out in front of an SUV. Both passengers in the car were killed. The passengers in the SUV were taken by ambulance to the local hospital.
