On Friday, December 29, 2023, at approximately 6:26 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on South Siwell Rd. in the Jackson City Limits in Hinds County involving a pedestrian and a Hinds County Sheriff’s Department vehicle.

A 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe belonging to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department traveled north on South Siwell Rd. when the vehicle collided with 34-year-old Travis D. Shoulders of Jackson, MS, walking on South Siwell Rd.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Travis D. Shoulders received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.
