Fatal accident on Highway 49 South of Magee near Siloam Road occurred Thursday night. The highway was closed for a period of time. The accident involved an 18 wheeler and 2 vehicles which happened around 10:30 PM at the intersection of Siloam Road and Highway 49.
While searching for a individual in Eastside subdivision, the initial crash was heard by several deputies as well as Chief of Staff, Scott Womack. The third vehicle struck the roof of the tractor cab of the 18 wheeler which was laying across both lanes of Highway 49 on its passenger side, resulting in the death of the truck driver.
The cargo was believed to be frozen chicken. Simpson County Sheriff deputies continued to assist the Magee Police with traffic control as southbound traffic was diverted onto Pinola Drive at Zip’s Restaurant and onto Highway 149 then back to Highway 49 south.

Prayers for all
The truck was transporting French-Fries. There was NO Chicken on board. Also, someone mentioned Ambulances. Well, as of 45 minutes after requesting an Ambulance, there was still no Ambulance on scene. AMR has awesome staff but there is an obvious problem with their Dispatch, along with the shortage of a Simpson County unit when needed. I’ve waited up to, and beyond, an hour for an Ambulance that never arrived on more than one occasion. But either way, this is another tragic senseless loss of life in Simpson County, MS. People really need to pay attention on these roads/Highways and tell the WHOLE story about the Crash, not what they wish had happened. Evidence does not lie. I’ll leave it at that so don’t ask.
Sean Cooper, the man that was killed in this accident was part of my family. Any info that you would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. I can give you my info if you would be willing to share your story.
