City of Magee Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie announced at the Tuesday night, November 7, 2023 Board of Aldermen meeting that extreme drought conditions continue; therefore, keeping the Burn Ban in place.  Governor Tate Reeves has not lifted the ban.

Although light to moderate rainfall is in the forecast for later in the week, the amount of rain will not be sufficient to lift the ban.  “Do not burn,” stated Valadie.  Our local fire department is still fighting grass fires usually caused by illegal burning.

Take precautions:  don’t let trailer chains drag on roadways; dispose of cigarettes properly and not on the ground.

There’s a good chance the light rainfall will bring some short term relief, especially for fire danger.  Temperatures should generally be warner than normal and this will greatly limit any chance for a freeze.
