Evelyn Nita Stinson, 79 of Pulaski, Mississippi left her earthly home and entered into her heavenly home on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born Sunday, October 17, 1943, in Dixon, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 219 Sylvarena Ave, Raleigh, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow at New Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Pulaski, Mississippi. Bro. Joey Smith will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

Mrs. Nita loved many things in this life, traveling with her late husband, baking and cooking for family and loved ones, she enjoyed tending to her flowers, she was an avid reader and could educate you on just about any subject. Most importantly she loved spending time with her grandbabies. Mrs. Nita will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Stinson; father, R.B. Gunter; mother, Pearline Hunter Gunter; brothers, Clyde Gunter, Henry Gunter, Horace Gunter; and sisters, Maggie Gunter Doussan, Mavis Gunter Weaver.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Hamilton; daughters, Kay Hamilton McNeil (Kevin) and Pam Hamilton McCleave; brother, Jerrell Gunter; sisters, Patricia Gunter Adams (David) and Linda Gunter Kennedy; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Kevin McNeil, Bruce Hamilton, Jacob Hamilton, Robert Hamilton, James Massey, and Stephen Heggins.
