On April 5, 2018 at approximately 1430 hours, A Simpson County Sheriff’s Office Detention Transport Officer transported Simpson County Inmate Joey Young to the ER at Simpson General Hospital, while at the Emergency room inmate Joey Young fled into a wooded area around the hospital. Simpson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, K-9 Units and Mendenhall Police Department secured a perimeter around the area Young fled too. At approximately 1732 hours, on the same date Young was apprehended at a short distance from the hospital. Young was transported back to the Simpson County Adult Detention Center and will be charged with Felony Escape.
