JACKSON, Mississippi – The heat and humidity are rising, and more people than ever are staying home. With air conditioners and other appliances getting more use, now is the time to take advantage of Entergy Solutions programs. These programs are designed to save energy and money on electric bills.

“Our energy efficiency programs have re-opened with strict safety standards to protect homeowners, trade allies and Entergy employees,” said Tison Reno, Entergy Mississippi manager of products and services deployment. “Customers can get started with a READI audit to get energy efficiency information and energy-saving items installed in their home at no cost, as it’s offered as part of their electric service. Or they can visit our online marketplace at entergysolutionsms.com/marketplace to buy energy-efficient products.”

Through the Residential Energy Audit and Direct Install (READI) program, energy analysts visit customers’ homes to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs by checking:

  • insulation levels
  • air leaks
  • heating and cooling systems
  • windows and doors
  • lighting and appliances
  • water-heating equipment

They report results to the homeowner along with recommendations to improve comfort and save energy. With permission, the energy-efficiency expert installs free products that can start saving energy and money immediately. Depending on recommendations, these products and services can include:

  • up to 14 energy-efficient light bulbs
  • LED night light
  • Two efficient-flow fixed or handheld showerheads
  • up to four faucet aerators
  • a power-saving strip
  • refrigerator coil cleaning.

In the Residential A/C Tune-Up Program, participating trade allies use a diagnostic tool to test the capacity of the homeowner’s heating and cooling system. Results are compared with what the system was designed to deliver. The tool identifies system inefficiencies to pinpoint steps to recapture – or even improve – the original performance specifications of the A/C system.

According to energystar.gov/, as much as half of the energy used in a home goes to heating and air conditioning. Upgrading to high-efficiency equipment can help families stay comfortable while reducing energy costs. Homeowners can get incentives of up to $1,100 on a high-efficiency heat pump or air conditioner through the Residential Heating and Cooling System Program.

Other energy-efficient appliances also bring savings to homeowners. Incentives from the Residential Appliances program help homeowners save when they upgrade to high-efficiency appliances. These include refrigerators, window A/C units, washers, dryers and more.

Homeowners aren’t the only ones who can save through Entergy Solutions. Businesses can save energy and money with tools provided by Entergy Solutions for Business and Entergy Small Business Solutions.
