A security alarm at PeoplesBank alerted the Magee Police Department to possible fire at the Magee Branch. The Magee Fire Department was quick to the scene. Anyone in Magee
The following information is from Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie
“Automatic fire alarm activation. Upon arrival, noticed a strong odor of burning, but no visible signs of smoke or fire. Smell was limited to area of stairwell near front exit. This corresponded with the location or zone that the fire alarm panel was indicating. Determined it to be a ballast in the nearby light fixture going bad.”
The alarm system did its job in alerting local authorities.
