I am Kenny Miller, and I am taking this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the position of Supervisor, District 4 in Rankin County.

I reside at 906 Lake Road in Pelahatchie, Mississippi. I am a member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church, where I serve as a deacon and substitute Sunday school teacher. I am married to the former Shelia Mashburn of Pelahatchie and have four children: Kay Sills (Mitch), Mark Miller (Kristen), Ashley Miller and Bailey Miller. I also have three grandchildren: Landon Sills, Mikayla Sills, and Walker Miller.

I was previously employed for 38 years with Willmut Gas Company in Pearl, MS as area manager and district manger until my retirement on June 30, 2014. In the past I have served as a member of the following:

  • Flowood Police Department
  • Rankin County Sheriff Office
  • Rankin First
  • Rankin County Chamber of Commerce
  • Rankin county Chamber’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee

From 1989-2001, I served as a member of the Board of Alderman for the city of Flowood. During my time of service there, we were able to accomplish many projects to help achieve a better quality of life for the citizens of Flowood and the surrounding community. The new Flowood Municipal Complex was completed, Winner’s Circle Park was opened, construction was started on the new library on Old Fannin Road, and the refuge Golf Course was opened. The relocation of highway 468 into Flowood was completed, and we broke ground for the Dogwood Festival Market. Also, the fire rating was lowered to Class 5, thus allowing for substantial savings for the citizens and business owners of Flowood. With the completion of these projects and many more, we were able to lower the taxes for out residents a total of 9.75 mills. I mentioned all of this to inform the residents in District 4 that, for the past 38-plus years, I have been heavily involved in commercial and residential development in Rankin county and am familiar with operation on a multimillion dollar budget.

The experience and community involvement exemplifies the qualifications that the next Supervisor of District 4 should have. Your prayers and support will be sincerely appreciated.

REMEMBER, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE.
