Elaine Ishee Hankins, 89, of Taylorsville, MS passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at her residence in Taylorsville, MS. She was born Thursday, June 13, 1935 in Jasper County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 10:00am until 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Taylorsville, in Taylorsville, Mississippi. The Funeral service will begin at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. Bro. Frankie Clark will officiate. After graduating from high school at age 16, Elaine attended Mississippi College and majored in music. Music was certainly a bedrock of her early years. She then married and began to start a family. She thrived as the bookkeeper at her father’s business, Taylorsville Lumber Company. From there, she worked at Taylorsville Manufacturing, then Georgia-Pacific before retiring. She enjoyed decades of caring for her children then her children’s children. She helped instill in them a priceless love for Christ – the greatest gift they could receive from her. Elaine loved her First Baptist church family. She poured herself into teaching various ladies Sunday School classes. She was especially honored to play the organ at church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Dee Hankins; daughter, Wanda Elaine Hankins King; father, Walter Jefferson Ishee, Sr.; mother, Flaula Sims Ishee; brother, Walter Jefferson Ishee, Jr.; sisters, Marjorie Ishee Graham, Ruby Ishee Sumrall, Dorothy Jean Ishee; and grandson, Brandon Seth Blakeney.

She is survived by her sons, Drew Hankins (Amy) of Auburn, AL and Bradley Dee Hankins of Taylorsville, MS; daughter, Lana Carol Hankins Butler (Kevin) of Laurel, MS; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Ishee Blackledge.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Hankins, Stephen Paul Martin, Heath King, Jeff Blackledge, Michael Blackledge, and Brett Blackledge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Hankins and Graham Hankins.

Special music will be performed by Mary Barron Jordan and Mary Lou Robertson.
