Eight Candidates Meet Statutory Requirements to Qualify for Special Elections in Two House Seats

Jackson, Miss.—Three special election candidates met the statutory requirements to qualify for State House District 89 in Jones County.  Five candidates met the statutory requirements to qualify for State House District 106 in Pearl River and Lamar Counties.

Candidates include:
·         District 89: Travis Mac Haynes, Donnie Scoggin, and Ron Swindall.
·         District 106: John Glen Corley, Larry D. Davis, Greg Holcomb, Ben Winston, and Daniel Wise.

The deadline to submit qualifying information was 5 p.m. yesterday, October 10, 2016.

The State Board of Election Commissioners will meet at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in the 19th Floor Conference Room at the Walter Sillers State Office Building located at 550 High Street, Jackson, Mississippi, to consider and certify special election candidates for the November 8 General Election ballot.  Statutory members of the Board include Governor Phil Bryant, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, and Attorney General Jim Hood.
