The Mississippi Egg Marketing Board announced the winners of its annual Easter Coloring Contest on Saturday, April 3, during the Easter festivities at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum.

Entries were accepted for one month prior to Easter with the contest open to all Mississippi school children ages four to nine years old. Nearly 150 Mississippi school children from around the state participated in the contest. The winner of each age division received a $50.00 gift.

The winner of the 4-5 years old age division was Taylor Kate Pickett, the 5-year-old daughter of Justin and Kim Pickett. Taylor is a K4 student at Sumrall Baptist Kindergarten. The winner of the 6-7 years old division was Ella Gates, the 6-year-old daughter of Caitlin and Matt Gates. Ella is a first-grade student at Central Hinds Academy. In the 9-10 years old division, the winner was Marleigh Teasley. Marleigh, also a student at Central Hinds Academy, is the 9-year-old daughter of Brandi Teasley and Lance Teasley.

Artwork submitted as part of the contest will be on display at the Mississippi Farmers Market, located at 929 High Street, Jackson, Mississippi during the month of May, in recognition of National Egg Month.

For more information about the Mississippi Egg Marketing Board, contact Jennifer Thompson at (601) 359-1144 or email msegg@mdac.ms.gov.
