Lions Band is composed of the best of the best from local schools’ marching bands. Approximately 140 students are chosen for the band.

Young musicians must prove themselves in auditions every year. Success brings the opportunity to travel and make music with the best of the best and to play alongside young musicians they might not otherwise meet.

Kameron Durr, Magee High School Drum Major, placed first in the first round of auditions for Lions Band as Drum Major.

Only one Drum Major is chosen.

Kameron is the son of Keyaha Durr and Sederick Durr.  Grandparents are Janice and John Walker and Dorothy Stovall.

Kameron has been in band since 6th grade.  When he is not leading the band Kameron plays the saxophone during concert season.

After graduation Kameron will further his education at the University of Southern Mississippi.  Kameron plans to major in Music Education and hopes to one day lead the Pride of Mississippi Band as a Drum Major.

I, Patrice Boykin, was a member of Lions Band back in the 80’s. This was the best experience I ever had.  Practices were very intense going from dawn to way pass dusk with short breaks in between for a week long band camp. In the end it was the hardest and most rewarding experience for me.

Congratulations to Kameron for placing first in the first round.  January 20, 2018, Kameron will return to Pearl for second round of auditions.  Scores from first audition and second auditions will be averaged together for an overall score.

Best of Luck!
