We are approaching the time of year when the temperatures are warmer and dresses are perfect to wear. Dresses and skirts are polished and professional. A pencil skirt definitely makes me feel powerful and confident walking into a meeting. Choosing the right look can make you feel invincible, which is good to have a few power pieces in your wardrobe.

When it comes to feeling feminine, nothing beats a dress. There are so many amazing styles and options. We all struggle with the right fit in dresses. My advice is to find the cut that best works for you, then select that cut in a variety of fabrics and prints. It’s the same style, but the different fabrics, colors and details keep these dresses from feeling too similar. You can add less expensive dresses in other styles, but invest the bulk of your budget in your most flattering style.

Casual dresses can be worn for a neat look when its not necessary to dress up. They are good for shopping, informal meetings or luncheons, and school or church functions. You always look pulled together when you have a knit/jersey dress you can just put on and go. If you have a dress that appears to need ironing just throw in the dryer for approximately 10 minutes and this will usually make it look pressed. Personally, I steer away from linen only because I don’t like the wrinkles in the fabric once its been worn.  In my opinion, it takes on a whole different shape once it shows its wrinkles and does not compliment me.

Skirts are an instant way to look classy, feminine, and pretty. They come in all kinds of styles and shapes so they are easy to wear no matter where you are going. Skirts are perfect to play with for adding prints as well as textures or knits.

With skirts balance really matters. If a skirt is more fitted then a looser top should be worn for a chic look. If a skirt is more full and flowing, then the top should be fitted. You can draw attention to your waist by tucking in or cropped at waist. Adding a belt can also show off your waist. Creating your best shape is everything. Remember balance!
