JACKSON, Miss. — Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson invites everyone to make their way to Downtown Jackson this Saturday, February 8, at 10:30 a.m. for the Dixie National Parade. The Dixie National Livestock Show and Rodeo has arrived in town with a variety of entertainment options for the whole family, including the Dixie National Parade. The parade will feature rodeo queens, antique cars and tractors, festive floats and mounted horses throughout the streets of Downtown Jackson.
“I want to invite everyone to come out and see the Dixie National Parade this Saturday. This parade, put on by the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, is an event the whole family can enjoy,” said Commissioner Gipson.
Leading the way from the corner of Mississippi and Jefferson Streets, the procession will continue down Mississippi Street, circle the Capitol and finally take a left on to Amite Street before returning to the fairgrounds. For the best views, onlookers can watch from the Capitol grounds near President, High and West Streets. Following the parade, awards will be presented to the winning parade groups at the Mississippi Farmers Market at 12:00 p.m.
The Dixie National Parade celebrates the 2020 Dixie National Rodeo, which kicks off Thursday, February 6, and continues through Wednesday, February 12. The seven-day event produced by Harper Morgan Rodeo Company features bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, steer wrestling, bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding and tie down roping. Musical artists Tracy Byrd, Hardy, Confederate Railroad, Gene Watson, Jordan Davis, Craig Morgan and Russel Dickerson will perform each evening of the rodeo.
