Dorothy Lee Yates, 99, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Brandon, Mississippi. She was born in Simpson County on Monday, March 21, 1921. She married Buford “Bud” Yates on February 9, 1944.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Smith County. Bro Tim Robertson will officiate. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

She is survived by her 5 children; Cheryl Brown, Kathy Adams, Deborah Yates, Suzanne Smith, and Buddy Yates (Susan). Survivors also include 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
