Doris Jean Layton, 88, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Bedford Nursing Home in Hattiesburg. She was born Monday, November 9, 1931.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 10, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall. The Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Chris Layton and Bro. Ted Bowlin will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. L Layton; parents, William Hilton, Sr. and Nannie Hilton; sisters, Louise Smith, Dorothy Cox, and Laverne Hilton; brothers, William Hilton, Jr. and Cary Hilton.
Survivors include her daughter, Nan Taylor (Jimmy); son, Chris Layton (Shena); grandchildren, Ashley Craft (Jonathan), Courtney Phillips (Chris), Byron Taylor (Tiffany), Lori Lister (Josh), Kristen Layton, and Jamie Taylor; great-grandchildren, Arleigh Taylor, Tucker Brown, Brody Taylor, Layton Craft, Presley Jean Lister, and Eva Lister; brother, James Hilton (Betty).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Baptist Children Village 114 Marketridge Dr, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157.
