We all have times we are not feeling our best some days. Those days when we know we should go back to bed or start the day over again because everything is going wrong. You discover you may have lost something, dropped several things before the first hour of waking up or just plain feeling low. These are the days when your emotions tell you not to dress as neatly as you normally do. You simply don’t want to go to as much trouble as you usually do. Do you grab the first thing you see in your closet? Do you go along with how you feel even though you know it’s not what looks best on you? No, don’t do it! Why? There are several reasons I can give you.

The first reason is if you give in and dress down, you will continue to feel lousy all day. Wearing the first thing that you pull out of your drawer or closet will make you question how you look all day because you know you put no effort into how you look or how others will perceive you. We may lack self confidence and it’s a known fact that when we slump our postures that we are not as confident. When we lack confidence it shows in our attitude and can effect how we treat everyone we come in contact with and how they treat us as well!

The second reason to putting an effort in dressing neatly is you will feel empowered, a sense of certainty, and poised. When we are wearing what compliments us we can be self-assuring and convincing in whatever obstacles or communications we face that day. Whenever I put an effort into what I wear the night before or in the morning and someone compliments me on my outfit, earrings, or shoes it confirms that the additional time into planning was worth it. It almost always happens to me every time I take the extra effort! And, of course, when you get that compliment, it is liberating.

The third reason for spending time selecting a nice outfit for whatever the occasion is you can’t take back someone’s first impression of you. If you are meeting someone for the first time then my opinion is you should try nothing less than looking your best and if your meeting up with old friends you should still be interested in keeping their viewpoint one of respect. When you receive that compliment, it gives you re-assurance you have achieved your attempt of looking your best.

Life is not perfect and things aren’t always going to happen in a way that makes sense. Part of life is chaos, so accepting the chaos instead of fighting with it will help you be less stressful. These are the times you must give your troubles to God and then let go of them. Doing this will change your day and your attitude all around. Your day will almost always get better. Remember, don’t do it! Don’t dress like you feel if your feeling lousy because it may cause your day NOT to improve! Wear your confidence!
