Donnie Ainsworth was born on March 4, 1945, in Mendenhall MS. He passed away on October 25, 2022, in hospice after a long bout with numerous types of cancer.
He is survived by Bobbie Tanner, Windell Tanner (stepson), Morris Ainsworth (son), Jennifer Goloforo Ainsworth (daughter-in-law); grandchildren, Blaire Elizabeth Tanner, Isabella Beth Ainsworth, Anna Grace Ainsworth and Jayden Brett Radecker. He is also survived by one brother, Elonzo Ainsworth; one sister, Bettye Clark and a number of nieces and nephews.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Ruthie Ainsworth; siblings, Calvin Ainsworth, Clyde Ainsworth, Maxie Ainsworth, Helen Frances Ainsworth, Hester Hue Ainsworth and Juanita Brewer.
Donnie was a very loving and compassionate father, mentor and role model to his grandchildren and everyone, but most importantly, he loved the Lord. He cumulated from knowledge of being a former FBI agent, Elected County Surveyor, Engineer and Army National Guard of over 21 years of service retiring as Staff Sergeant E-6. He believed one thing “Get as much education as you can because the good Lord above is the only person that can take it away from you.” His hobbies included deer hunting, gardening, horticulture and his favorite was turkey hunting.
Donnie was a very giving and caring person. He would give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it. I (Morris) remember doing numerous projects, small and large for people that required his array of skills and knowledge at no charge, because he said; “It is better to give than receive.” This priceless value was instilled in me my entire life as I teach my children through his legacy now and forever. Furthermore, his battle with various types of cancers never kept him from spoiling and spending all of his time enjoying as well as honoring his grandchildren’s accomplishments to the best of his ability.
We welcome his friends and family to celebrate his rebirth into Heaven on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Tutor Funeral Home, 3035 MS Hwy-13, Mendenhall, MS 39114, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with service in Tutor Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. The graveside military service will follow at Mendenhall Cemetery, 469 E Court Avenue, Mendenhall, MS 39114.
