Donald Ray Amason, 86, of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his home in Pearl, Mississippi. He was born Friday, October 5, 1934.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee. The Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery. Bro. Tim Black will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031
Donald was raised in the Shady Grove community in Smith County. He graduated Mize High School in 1954 and later attended Draughons Business College in Jackson. He married the former Doris Lewis of Magee in 1957 and they remained married until the time of his passing for over 63 years. Donald was a furniture manufacturing supervisor and worked in that industry for 34 years before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed astronomy, watching college football, and visiting with his two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A lifelong Baptist, he spend the last 58 years of his life residing in Pearl.
He was preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Lula Amason; sisters, Wonza McAlpin, Lois Kennedy, Christine Blackwell, and Bonnie McAlpin; brothers, J.D. Amason and Howard Amason.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Amason; son, Stacy Amason; daughter, Darlene Amason; grandchildren, Amanda Button (Danny) and David Crews; great-grandchildren, Dakota Barrett, Adam Button, and Madi Button; sisters, Joy Rachel and Jean Netherland (James); brother, Jearl Amason (Betty).
