Donald Howard McGovern of Mendenhall, MS passed away on October 3, 2022, at his home. He was born on October 22, 1960, to the late Bobby and Dean (Kennedy) McGovern in Magee, MS.
Donny began his career working with the Mendenhall Police Department. Then later worked for the Mendenhall Sheriff’s Department sometimes working shifts for both. He work in law enforcement for over thirty-five years.
Donny was a friend to all. He loved watching any kind of western shows, traveling to the mountains, going fishing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Kathy McGovern; sons, Dalton McGovern; daughters, Angela Johnston (Dennis); brothers, Sammy McGovern (Barbara), Randy McGovern (Kim), Joe McGovern (Kathy), Junior McGovern (Connie) and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kayla McGovern.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, in Tutor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Trent Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Brian Buckley, Dalton McGovern, Christian Johnston, Dennis Johnston, Zack Johnston, Michael Pope. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Seghini.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
