Donald “Don” Patrick, 86, of Mendenhall passed away on April 10, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Jackson, MS to Woodrow and Elizabeth Patrick on August 19, 1936. He grew up working on the family farm and later attended Puckett High School where he met the love of his life Patricia Ann.

At the age of 17 Don joined the military and was stationed in Berlin, Germany as part of the Horse Platoon in the 287th Military Police Company. During his time in the military he developed a deep love of horses and felt at home in the saddle. Once he returned to the States, Don participated in numerous rodeos specializing in events like team penning and even won several belt buckles for being a prize rider in the Dixie National Rodeo.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Mendenhall, Mississippi. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall.  Bro. Earl Clark and Dr. Frank Harmon will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mendenhall is in charge of arrangements. 601-847-4401

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. For 65 years he walked hand in hand with his wife serving God, family and the community. He came to saving faith as a young boy and followed Jesus faithfully for the remainder of his life. The joy of his salvation often erupted through deep belly laughs that could be heard for miles.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Patricia Ann Patrick; parents Woodrow Patrick and Elizabeth Patrick; and brother Robert Patrick.

He is survived by three sons, Andy Patrick (Gail), Rick Patrick (Carol) and Doug Patrick (Sarah); two daughters, Sonya Mullins (David) and Donna Patrick; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Woody Patrick, Mike Patrick and Mark Patrick; three sisters, Mary Ammons, Laura Mahaffey and Ruth Walker and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jason Mullins, Kyle Patrick, Hayden Beasley, Heath Spears, Nick Hartsfield, and BJ Hard.
