The “new” Dollar General being built on Highway 28 is “coming on up.” I’m just saying, I don’t know who chose the location….but gracious…somebody is going to get killed! Now I know this is just my opinion…after making a stop for pictures Thursday…I am even more convinced.

An Evening of Laughter, Macarons, and Good Friends

An Evening of Laughter, Macarons, and Good Friends

August 7, 2026

When I mentioned to a friend about the building of the DG, he stated “great for the wrecker business.”  I really didn’t know until I attempted to get off and back on the highway.

I never do anything simple…I realized I could not back onto the highway because of the curve one cannot see around…so down the hill I go to make a turn and come up “head first!”  Just as I started up the hill to enter the highway, a huge 18 wheeler begins backing onto the driveway I am on.  I was stuck.  I felt awful for the truck driver…and terrible for myself because how was I going to get out of that spot!  After the driver maneuvering and my maneuvering, one of the people in my car put me in the back seat and with about 10 minutes of inching back and forth, we got by the truck.  The truck driver said he could not believe any business would build there!  The 18 wheelers just can’t manage in and out!

Oh well, the business will be nice for the people in that area…just be sure your mamaw and papaw know how to get in and out.

As I looked at the area, I thought of the early years of Walmart and all the wrecks….praying this will not be the situation again!

The store is a great size…just a scary location.

In and around Magee, I always see interesting stuff!
