We have been contacted by Jacob Gruber of PBS to help with the American Portrait Project by PBS, and they are looking for people like YOU to send in a short 20-60 second video explaining what family means to you. Help us in helping them spread the news and send in your videos! Here is an attachment below of descriptions and instructions.
“My name is Jacob Gruber and I’m working with PBS on their American Portrait Project production team. We are looking for people in Mississippi to share, via a 20-60 second video, your story about what family means to you. Are you interested in sharing your story? If so, please respond ASAP.
I’m hoping your social media accounts could help spread word of our project to your group members. I linked the project’s Facebook page, so feel free to check us out! I also attached an info sheet with all the information you need. Please contact me if you or anyone you know is interested in participating! Feel free to send the PDF around. There’s no limit on the number of participants!
Here are some examples of prompts:
What is family to you? (Could be your family of origin, or a tribe/family you are a part of)
Do you have traditions you carry on as a family?
What does a Saturday night look like with your family?
Have you and your family worked together to create something special (art, crafts, baked goods, music?)
Has your family been forced apart (through incarceration, border policy or other reason), and if so, how are you dealing with this?
Thank you!”
