District Attorney Chris Hennis has released his office’s report on the March 2021 Simpson County term of court. The Court term ended on Thursday April 1, 2021. The following defendants entered guilty pleas and were sentenced by the Court upon recommendation of the District Attorney’s Office.

Justin Dickerson, 19 years old, entered a plea of guilty to the crime of Exploitation of a Child. The charge stemmed from sexually explicit photographs and videos of minors that were discovered on his cell phone. Dickerson was sentenced to 40 years in MDOC custody with 20 years to serve incarcerated without the possibility of parole. Once released from prison, Dickerson will have to register as a sex offender and will spend the next 20 years on probation. His arrest and subsequent charge resulted from a report from a concerned citizen. This was a joint investigation between the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

Tremaine Norwood entered a plea of guilty to the crime of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC custody with 5 years to serve incarcerated.
