Millcreek is the largest private provider for children and adolescents in the state of Mississippi and was the first provider of child and adolescent services in Mississippi to receive The Joint Commission accreditation. In 1976, an Intermediate Care Facility for the Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR) was established in Magee. In February of 1990, due to an urgent need for long-term psychiatric services in the state of Mississippi, Millcreek opened the first Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) in the state of Mississippi. Day Treatment services for the emotionally disturbed and developmentally delayed were opened in 1994.
