Derwood “Buddy”L. Holbrook

Derwood “Buddy” L Holbrook, 85, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at his home. He was born Saturday, July 27, 1929 in Mendenhall. Buddy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed coaching and umpiring baseball. He proudly served his country as a Drill Sgt in the United States Army.

Mr. Holbrook is preceded in death by his Father – J D Holbrook, and his Mother – Myrtle Holbrook; and his brother, John Earl Holbrook.

He is survived by his wife, Vidilia Holbrook; Son – Derwood L. Holbrook; Son – James Allan Holbrook; Daughter – Teri Ann Anderson; Grandchildren, Trent Allan Holbrook, Alyssa Nichole Davis, Trudy Holley Thames and Cameran Camille Thames; brother, James Quitman Holbrook, and sisters, Theresa Duckworth and Dot Crawford.

Pallbearers are Reed Anderson, Trent Holbrook, Leonard Saxon, David Holbrook, Scott Failer and Stacy Broadhead. Honorary Pallbearers are Jacob Holbrook and Zack Holbrook.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, with burial following in Mendenhall City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, February 23, 2015 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
