Dennis Ray Cockrell, 81, of Magee, Mississippi, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on, Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Bedford Care Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He was born Monday, July 31, 1939, in Magee, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery with military rites. Bro. John Adcock and Bro. Jacob McKenzie will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

Mr. Cockrell was a member of Legacy Church of Magee.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend.  He enjoyed working on his tractor, working in his garden, playing his guitar, and spending time with his sons.  He served our country in the United States Army.  He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Cockrell and Ima Lou Baldwin Cockrell; one daughter, Darlene (Dolly) Lane; and one sister, Lou Nell Craft.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Lyndel L. Dollar Cockrell; two sons, Guy Dennis Cockrell and wife, Angela, of Seminary, and John Marcus Cockrell and wife, Angie, of Gulfport; three daughters, Penny Aguirre of Plano, TX, Melissa Magee and husband, Jeff, of Mize, and Jimmie Marie Sullivan and husband, Kirk, of Mendenhall; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward Dwight Cockrell of Puckett, and Thomas Larry Cockrell of Magee; two sisters, Alice Jean Keith and husband, Murry of Magee, and Lynda Keys and husband George of Mendenhall; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Alex Sullivan, Jake Burnham, Blake Maxwell, Taylor Everett, Dewayne Fairchild, and Matthew Cockrell.
