Delano Roosevelt Heggins, 78, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was born on November 4, 1936 to parents Monroe Franklin and Minnie (Miller) Heggins.
Delano served with the 173rd Airborne in the United States Army. He was a Sergeant 1st Class. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Marien Heggins; son, Tim Heggins (Paula); daughters, Melody Heggins (Patrice Cavilier), Tracy Heggins, Lori Heggins (Brenda Quarles), Lesa Deckard; brothers, Hiawatha Heggins and Marion F. Heggins; sister, Virgie Lee; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny, Bilbo, M.L. and Ben Heggins; sisters, Margie May and Neal Heggins.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 5-8 pm at Tutor Funeral Home.
