Attorney Danny Welch led a discussion on the request for a debris pit.  Several factors must a line for the approval such as:  determination of need, public hearing, location (Strong River), DEQ.  “This is not a short process,” stated Welch.

The supervisors are aware of the need for a pit but unsure if DEQ will approve.

Danny Welch presented each supervisor with a map of Simpson County showing the roadways.  The map is not updated but the only one that is recognized currently.  All supervisors expressed the need for an updated map.  The area in question is near highway 28/13.  Mr. Richard Craft lives at 113 Dean Road but the address is not listed on the map.  In Mr. Welch’s opinion, 124 Old Dairy Farm Lane has been abandoned and should be removed from the map.  Dean road is a public road.

Pat Brown, executive director of the Simpson County development foundation, explained that 41 trees to be cut down in the area near the D’Lo Water Park.  Mr. Brown has requested assistance from the county to clean the debris.

Board President Mitchell Chatman asked if the county could assist with the cleaning of the area coming off Zion Hill Road (ditches etc).” The area needs cleaning,” stated Chatman.  Supervisors Danny Craft requested the area near the entrance to Co-Lin (where the lights are on the highway) be cleaned.   Because these areas are part of public highways, Donny Welch offered to  speak with Albert White of MDOT for clearance information

The meeting was adjourned for executive session.
