David Robert Herring, a man whose laughter was as infectious as his spirit was adventurous, embarked on his final journey on July 14, 2025. Born on March 29, 1949, in the heart of Mississippi, David’s zest for life began early and never waned. He departed from this world in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by the love of his family.
David was the beloved husband of Fay Smith Herring, his partner in love and laughter. Together, they navigated the highs and lows of life with unwavering support. He was the proud father of Robb Herring (Amanda), Charlie Kiser (Janet), George Lewis (Rebecca), Suzanne Tidwell (Joseph), Wanda Sullivan (Aaron), and Gloria McCraney. David’s legacy continued with his grandchildren, Bo Herring, Olivia Tidwell, and Will Tidwell, who will carry on his knack for finding joy in the simplest of things.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Jo Scott and Sue Robershaw.
David was into racing, so he built a race car from the ground up for his son, which was not just a machine but a symbol of his love for racing and his dedication to his family.
You could often spot David out selling produce, which had customers coming back for the tomatoes and the entertainment. Someone who loved the outdoors, he found solace in the serenity of hunting and fishing, though the fish might argue there was nothing serene about his booming laugh echoing across the water.
