David Price Tedford Sr. passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Glendale, California to L.D. Tedford and Maddie Lee Crigger Tedford on September 24, 1947.
David graduated from Magee High School Class of ’65. He then continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi. David began his business career at Ted’s Swap Shop in Magee, MS, with his father. He retired from Boswell Regional Center after 32 years as Director of Vocational Services. While at Boswell, he provided job training and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marinell Gardner Tedford, and his two nephews, Ted Hart (Melinda) and Lee Hart; brothers-in-law, Hal Gardner (Deanna) and Keith Gardner; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great-nephews along with many lifelong friends that adored him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Maggie Tedford, and one sister, Joann Tedford Long, and brother-in-law, J.W.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The service will begin at 2:00 in the chapel of Tutor Funeral Home, where Brother Bill Blair, Brother Matt Olson, and Brother Jason Webb will officiate. Interment will follow in Magee City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dewayne Pittman, Steve Allen, Matt Nalker, Ricky Grimes, Don Thames and Orlando Rankin. Honorary pallbearers are Hal Berry, Dale Berry, Keith Coleman, Charlie Prince, Robert Landrum, Dan McAlpin, Benny Hubbard, Jack McAlpin, Chris Lane, Joe Harold Allen and Ronnie McNair.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The ARC of Mississippi or Shriners Hospital for Children.
