What a show! The Magee Fire Department put on quite the demonstration during Crazy Day — showing off their impressive equipment and the fire station itself. But the real crowd-pleaser? The demolition of a car! Well… “demolition” might not be the official word, but by the time they were done, that poor car was practically in pieces!
We’re all a little guilty of taking our fire department for granted, but watching these men in action makes you stop and appreciate just how skilled and dedicated they are. The training, the equipment, and the teamwork — it’s amazing to see up close.
Now, full disclosure — part of my video might have gotten a little wonky! Somewhere along the way, my camera decided to take its own tour. Just bear with me — it’s worth watching, I promise!
Fire Chief David Craft walked us through a “blow-by-blow” of the action. His explanations turned the demo into a live classroom. He shared that when firefighters arrive on a scene, some things have to happen right away — like deflating the tires so the vehicle won’t roll. Before long, the crew had the roof off, doors off, windshield out, and even the sidebars gone. All that was left was a shell of what used to be a car!
This year marks 75 years of the Magee Fire Department — seventy-five years of courage, community, and commitment. What a powerful legacy to celebrate — and an even stronger one being built for the future.
So, sit back and enjoy the “crazy” video from Crazy Day — and give a big thanks to our hometown heroes who keep Magee safe every single day!
