Intermittent ramp CLOSURES at I-59 and U.S. 49 in Forrest County start TODAY

State health officials urge Mississippians to take special precautions as we enter into Labor Day weekend. According to State Health Officer, Dr. Dobbs, Mississippi still has one of the highest rates of COVID in the U.S., and even modest-sized gatherings can greatly accelerate the transmission of this virus. As seen in the data following Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, holiday get-togethers can drive massive increases in COVID cases and deaths.

Our COVID-19 cases have been relatively consistent over the last two weeks, and that’s mainly due to each of us doing the small things to protect one another. Please continue to practice good hygiene and make smart, health-conscious decisions over the holiday weekend.
