COVID-19 Prevention
As the COVID-19 case numbers continue to fluctuate in our state, it is crucial for every Mississippian to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and others. To flatten the curve, we must consistently educate ourselves and adapt to health guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH).
One of the most important ways to protect yourself against the illness is to be well aware of how it spreads. According to the CDC, the virus spreads mainly from person-to-person, generally through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Recent students have also suggested that COVID-19 may be spread by people who are not showing symptoms, so it’s important to always protect yourself when out in public.
Help keep Mississippi safe by practicing good hygiene, social distancing whenever possible, staying home if you are sick, and getting tested if you think you’ve been exposed to COVID-19. By taking care of ourselves, we take care of each other.
