During the Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting discussion was made concerning permit fees for county residents. Presently, a $5 permit is charged for new constructions and mobile homes. A permit is required before any construction can begin!
Simpson County is losing funds due to the policy not being enforced. Several county residents are not aware a permit is required for any construction on a land owner’s property.
The board approved to begin charging a $250.00 permit charge for new constructions, and $150.00 charge for mobile homes. The E911 office will work with the tax assessors office, utilities companies and health department to make sure permits have been acquired before services can be provided.
Anyone building a barn, shed, unattached building or adding on to present dwelling are not required to have a permit.
The new charges will go into effect staring May 1, 2021.
