Simpson County Board of Supervisors met for a special meeting Friday, September 28, 2918 to close out the fiscal year.

During the meeting, approval was given to appoint Special Prosecutor, Allan Buffington, in Justice Court to replace Special Prosecutor, Wendell James, who has recused himself in the cases of Jacob Niblett vs Wanda Smith, Rodney Anderson and Vivian Niblett.

Travel, registration, lodging, meals and mileage were approved for the County Veterans Service Officer, Leo Windham, to attend re certification training in Columbus, MS, October 10-12, 2018.

Travel, registration, and mileage was approved for Joyce Ann Hicks, to attend the Harris/Delta Annual Justice Court User Conference.

Travel, registration, lodging, meals and Mileage for the Asst. comptroller, Eric Bowen to attend the Miss. Technology User Group (MSTug) conference in Biloxi, October 19-21, 2018 was granted.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned. The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 1, 2018.

During the October 1, 2018 meeting, Tammy Wages, with Air Med Care, met before the board to bring to their attention a policy that is offered for Flight care to help reduce out of pocket costs for emergency air ambulance transportation. There are several options available. This membership is an annual price that covers anyone living in the household for AirMed Care for as little as $65.00 a year. With AirMed Care there are no out of pocket expenses if flown by an AMCN provider other than the one time annual payment per household. AirMed Care cover 320 locations across 38 states.

State Aid Bridge inspections have begun for the upcoming year. No reports of bridge closures have been made at this time. Previous bridge closures are being enforced on Heed Neely Road and Van Zandt. The county is presently working on repairs and solutions to get these bridges back in operation as soon as possible.

The board authorized the  claims and immediately issuance of checks for the following: Deep South Fire Trucks Inc. for the Pinola Volunteer Fire Department 2019 new F250 Mini Pumper in the amount of $156,650. Note: $130,000 was authorized form the volunteer fire Fund accumulated equipment funds and the remainder of the $26,650.00 was reimbursed fot he County from the Pinola Volunteer Fire Department funds.

The board approved the Proposal of Windham and Lacey, PLLC, for the regular financial and legal compliance audits for the Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019 in the amount of $28,000 each.

With no further business, the meeting was recessed until October 15, 2018 for the next regular scheduled board meeting.
