The Simpson County Council Of Governments met Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Mendenhall Civic Center.
This was the first meeting since COVID. A good attendance was present for the meeting.
TEC company was the guest speakers for the meeting. Representatives Jeff Singletary and Brent Fisher from TEC Operations met concerning broadband for Simpson County. The project is coming to Simpson county in the year 2022. The plans are to lay 545 miles of fiber optic lines. The company is based out of Bay Springs, MS. The company is investing a huge amount of money in Simpson county to help reach the citizens with broadband coverage. For more information concerning TEC please click here.
Representative Price Wallace updated everyone on the legislative issues and answered questions.
Simpson County School Board President Danny Cowart spoke on the progression of the schools and how the ESSER money provided from the government could be spent.
The meeting is organized and presented by the Simpson County Development Foundation.
